The mechanical differences between 2 and 4 stroke outboard
The terms "2 stroke" and "4 times" refers to the number of times the piston moves during a switching cycle of the engine. In the 4-stroke engine, the four movements, or strokes, are as follows:
Intake: the intake valve opens, the piston moves downwards resulting in a mixture of air and fuel into the combustion chamber.
